Anybody who’s been following Holacracy for a while must have tried to read the Holacracy Constitution at least once. If so, like most people, you might have been disappointed to discover what’s under the hood: hard to digest legalese. The accuracy and precision of the legal language is priceless for a document like the Constitution, yet at the same time makes it difficult to use as a go-to document for quick reference.
In fact, it’s been a constant request from Holacracy practitioners: to have a simplified version of the Constitution that’s easy to understand and convenient to use. So, I’m pleased to announce the release of the Holacracy Constitution 4.0 in “Plain English”.
A web version is available now, and we’re working on a print version as well. We chose to display each section alongside its plain English version, so that readers can refer back to the actual text when additional clarity is needed. It looks like this:
I plan to add in-page links within the Constitution to link sections together, in addition to other minor improvements. In the meantime, I hope Holacracy practitioners and enthusiasts will find this document useful as-is already. Your feedback is most welcome!
