Last month, we launched the Self-Management Accelerator (SMA) — an online platform designed to help you learn, adopt, and implement self-management practices like Holacracy. The Evolution of Our Online Courses

Over the past few years, we’ve developed a suite of online courses specifically designed to support organizations transitioning to Holacracy. Initially, these courses were exclusive to our consulting clients, helping them integrate Holacracy into their operations. However, as interest grew beyond just our consulting clients, companies and individuals alike began requesting access to these courses independently.

Recognizing this demand, we eventually made the courses publicly accessible, but they never had a prominent place on our website. Last year, we decided to promote them more widely, listing them on our site. But soon, we realized something was missing — a strong community element. Students needed the ability to interact with peers and coaches. Unfortunately, the course platform we were using didn’t support this well, and as a result, interest waned.

Bridging Learning and Community with the SMA

One of the key reasons for creating the Self-Management Accelerator was to combine our Community of Practice with our online courses. Now, these courses are fully integrated into the SMA under the Practitioner subscription tier.

But that’s not all. We’ve also reimagined how we deliver these courses, streamlining the experience and offering more value to anyone eager to learn about self-management.

Why did you remove the Holacracy 101 course?

Holacracy 101 was a solid course, but it consistently received mixed feedback. The issue was a misalignment of expectations — while it provided a good in-depth overview of Holacracy, it didn’t help people actually practice the framework. In many ways, the Holacracy Practitioner Training serves as a more comprehensive “Holacracy 101” offering. We felt it didn’t fit clearly within the Holacracy Individual Track, so we replaced it with Holacracy Basics — a shorter course that covers the fundamentals and is available for free on the SMA.

Why don’t you offer pay-per-course anymore?

For companies already using Holacracy, it sometimes made sense to pick specific courses to fill gaps in their staff’s understanding. In these cases, choosing individual courses worked well. However, for most people, a single course alone doesn’t deliver much value. Instead, we recommend starting with the Holacracy Practitioner Training for a comprehensive introduction, followed by deeper learning through additional courses. If your organization needs tailored training, please contact us, and we’ll work together to find the best solution.

Why a pricing model of $1,995 for the first year, then $295 per year afterward?

The initial price reflects the value of our extensive course library, along with the live sessions included in the Holacracy Practitioner Training. The lower annual fee acknowledges that you’ve already accessed the core content but ensures you retain access to new and updated courses.

Is this new offering suited for companies?

Absolutely! While the SMA is more accessible for individuals, companies can also benefit from its rich resources and community support. After all, companies are made up of individuals! However, the Holacracy Individual Track is designed for personal development and does not teach how to implement Holacracy across a company or coach others in the framework. We plan to develop such offerings on the SMA in the future, but for now, your best option is to seek help from a Certified Holacracy Provider.
